ABOUT cCNS
Cognition, in its broadest sense, is what the brain does. Perception, action, language, memory, thinking… and much more. The aim of this “Tri-College” Centre for Cognitive and Neural Systems (cCNS) is to bring together colleagues located across the University – in Medicine, Science and the Humanities – who have a shared interest in information processing by the brain.
Our members and associate members are supported by teams of postdocs and graduate students through research grants from a variety of national and international funding agencies. There are often opportunities to join these research teams, either advertised on our home page or available by contacting a specific investigator. We also contribute to taught masters and Ph.D programmes that are listed under Links. For general contact details, please click on the "Contact and Enquiries" heading.
FACILITIES
The core members of the Centre are located in the neuroscience building at 1 George Square (see University of Edinburgh campus maps) which houses both teaching and research laboratories. Our associate members are in other research centres in each of three Colleges of the University. We have access, either within the building or elsewhere in the University, to state of the art neuroimaging, behavioural neuroscience and molecular laboratory equipment.
