Blood flow to the brain is central to its function and its survival. The group has had longstanding interests in cerebrovascular regulation, how this regulation is disturbed in disease and in defining the molecular events which play a critical role in development of brain damage. A particular focus is using large scale proteomics to identify protein-protein interactions which are associated with survival, death and repair of different cell types in the brain. Modification of protein-protein interactions by low molecular weight drugs provides novel therapeutic opportunities in stroke and white matter disease.
