I am researching the role of the hippocampus and striatum in deliberative decision-making. I am using a combination of behavioural tasks, in vivo single-unit recording and lesions or localized inactivation techniques to study how the hippocampus and striatum interact in spatial decision-making.

I am currently investigating a behaviour observed in rodents in which they move their heads back and forth between two options when making a decision . This is known as vicarious trial-and-error and may be an indicator of deliberative decision making.
